Discount Disney World Tickets

For most people, Disney World tickets are EXPENSIVE. And thanks to Lightning Lanes,  the new, paid Disney World FastPass replacement, that daily cost is only going to increase. So, it’s no surprise that discount Disney World tickets are in high demand.

But, with so many people out there peddling invalid tickets, capitalizing on budget-minded travelers just hoping to make their family vacation just a little more affordable, it can be a challenge to know where to buy cheap Disney World tickets, let alone which ones are best for your group. Read on as we break down all the best Disney ticket deals and help you decide which Walt Disney World tickets are best for you and your family.

A Crash Course on Walt Disney World Tickets

Before you can decide which discount Disney World tickets to purchase, you first need to figure out what kind of park tickets are best for your vacation.

Choosing Your Disney World Park Tickets

In general, guests can choose from either standard or Florida resident theme park tickets, as well as annual passes. Florida residents are only able to purchase either 1, 3 or 4-day tickets, while out-of-state guests can buy tickets for 1 to 10 days. Both are available from $109 per day depending on which date you visit, with tickets dropping to as little as $54 per day for out-of-state guests staying for 10 days.

Keep in mind that the cost of going to Walt Disney World isn’t the same every day of the year. Instead, the price for Disney World tickets varies depending on whether you decide to travel over the high, low or shoulder season. In other words, guests traveling over the busy holiday season can expect to pay the highest ticket prices, while those visiting during the slower months will pay less.

You can also opt to upgrade your ticket with add-ons like Disney Park Hopper, Water Park and Sports or Park Hopper Plus. Of course, once you have your ticket, you’ll then have the option to skip the line by adding on Lightning Lane access with Disney Genie+ or Individual Attraction Selections.

If this is your first time visiting Disney World, we recommend you plan to spend at least five days in the theme parks (i.e., a 5-Day Ticket). With or without park hopping, this gives you a full day at each theme park, along with an extra day to spend however you choose. May we suggest revisiting your favorite park(s), checking out the Disney World water parks or Disney Springs, going mini-golfing or visiting our namesake, Disney’s BoardWalk?

Only have time for one day at Walt Disney World? Then a 1-Day Ticket with Park Hopping is a must. This will allow you to experience as many of the theme parks as you’d like to in a day. Morning at one, afternoon at another? Or, go crazy and tackle four parks in one day (not recommended for Disney World newbies).

Affordable Disney Advice: To maximize your travel budget, schedule your visit for the low season, like weekdays at the end of August and beginning of September once school is back in session in Florida, and see big Disney World tickets discounts.

1 Park Per Day Disney World Tickets

Disney World’s most basic ticket option. A 1 Park Per Day Ticket is just what it sounds like: You can only go to either Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. Once you’ve made your Disney park reservations and walked through the front gates, that is the only theme park you can visit for the remainder of the day.

While this is the more affordable option, it also confines you to one Disney destination per day. That’s ok if you’ve planned out your visit down to the detail or you’re a Disney World pro. However, for others, it can be stifling. Personally, we’d rather not be stuck in the same park all day long.

Disney World Park Hopper Tickets

Just like the name implies, Park Hopper tickets allow you to hop from park to park within the same day. Though more expensive than the standard one-park-per-day option, Park Hopper gives you the freedom to go to whichever park you’d like to visit – provided there is park reservation availability (for your first stop) and that the park hasn’t reached capacity (for any subsequent stops), of course – starting at 2 PM.

This allows you to focus only on your must-do attractions from each park (and possibly take advantage of smaller crowds or adjust to bad weather in the process), all while covering more ground in less time. We highly recommend investing in Park Hopper access for anyone planning to spend four days or less in the theme parks.

Disney World Water Park and Sports Option

For guests who want to go beyond the theme parks. The Water Park and Sports Option gives guests access to their choice of one outdoor Disney World activity for each day of their theme park ticket in addition to one theme park for each day of their visit. For example, a 5-Day Disney World Ticket with the Water Park and Sports add-on would allow guests five visits to the experience(s) of their choosing.

These include Blizzard Beach Water Park, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course or Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course for a round of either FootGolf or traditional golf.

Guests can opt to visit a different attraction each day or go to the same attraction for each day of their trip. You can even use up two or three visits on the same day if you’d like. However, keep in mind that there are some restrictions for how the visits can be redeemed, such as only mini-golf visit being allowed per day, with the round being required to begin before 4 PM.

Disney World Park Hopper Plus Tickets

Park Hopper Plus combines the perks of both add-on options – Park Hopper and Water Parks & Sports – for one fun-filled ticket to Disney World. A guest with a 7-Day Park Hopper Plus Ticket would gain access all four theme parks for seven days, with the ability to jump from park to park after 2 PM each day, along with seven visits of their choosing to any of the seven sports-related activities outlined above. As you can probably guess, this is also the most expensive Disney World ticket option.

Affordable Disney Advice: Park Hopper tickets certainly aren’t the cheapest Disney World ticket option, but if you are pondering a ticket add-on, this one is well worth the price. With long lines and bad weather to contend with, having the flexibility to go to a different theme park can be invaluable.

Where to Buy Discount Disney World Tickets

Disney tickets are notoriously and, sometimes, prohibitively pricey. This prompts would-be guests to save for years for that perfect trip, only to don matching t-shirts unironically emblazoned with Mickey ears and “Most Expensive Day Ever” once they get there. If that doesn’t sound like a pixie-dust fueled twist on laughing to keep from crying, then we don’t what does.

To save you and your crew from a similar fate, your best bet is booking some discount Disney tickets. But, with so many options out there hawking cheap Disney tickets, how do you choose which ticket seller to use? While any deal is better than none, let’s break down your different options, so you can decide which of these Disney World discounts are right for you.

Our Top Pick for Disney World Discount Tickets: Boardwalk Ticketing

We may be biased – ok, not ‘may’, we are – but when it comes to the best places to buy Disney World tickets at a discount, there is one company we recommend again and again: Us!

That’s right, the Disney-lovin’ folks at Boardwalk Ticketing aren’t just interested in the best places to watch the Epcot or Hollywood Studios fireworks from Disney’s BoardWalk. As an Authorized Walt Disney World Ticket Seller, we’re also passionate about saving people money by offering some of the best prices available on Disney World discount tickets.

Other ticket sellers tout savings of $20 or more per ticket. While that is nothing to sniff at, Boardwalk Ticketing takes the savings even further, offering a discount of over $50 per person for some Disney tickets.

What’s more, with us, you never need to worry about purchasing inauthentic Disney park tickets. We partner directly with the Mouse to source the cheapest discounted Disney World tickets. So, not only will you soar through the turnstiles like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, but you can also connect your tickets to your My Disney Experience account, making it easy to purchase upgrades like Disney Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Attraction Selections. (More on those in a bit.)

Other Places for Disney World Tickets at a Discount

Of course, you have some other options for purchasing discount tickets to Walt Disney World. For a Disney World military discount, tickets are available either on-site or online through the Shades of Green Resort, while military Disney tickets can also be purchased at the Leisure Travel Office located at many U.S. bases nationwide.

Costco Disney World tickets are available through the brand’s Costco Travel service, though they must be purchased as part of a Disney vacation package. In other words, tickets can’t be bought separately. You need to also book a room reservation at one of the included hotels on or off Walt Disney World property. And as for another Costco competitor, Sam’s Club Disney tickets are also available for members of the wholesale giant looking for a cheap vacation.

Are you a member of a different club? No, not the Mickey Mouse Club – we’re talking about the auto club! Then you’re in luck, as AAA Disney World tickets are offered at a discounted price.

Some Disney Ticket Deals Are Too Good to Be True

Disney pulls in billions of dollars in theme park revenue each year. And of all those theme park guests, many of them we’re hoping to score Disney World discount tickets. Unfortunately, with so many people looking for a deal, there are also plenty of scammers trying to take advantage of thrifty travelers.

Just watch the parade of billboards and tiny ticket booths hawking obscenely cheap tickets to Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Orlando. It almost seems too good to be true. And guess what? It probably is.

Think shopping online is free from the pitfalls of faux discounted Disney tickets? We’re sad to report that unfortunately, fraudulent websites offering seemingly magical deals for (fake) theme park tickets abound.  To stay on the safe side, we recommend you avoid the below situations to make certain you only buy valid discounted Disney tickets:

  • You may turn to the digital community to track down a used sofa for your living room, but Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace are not an advisable place to search for Disney ticket deals, as you’re likely to come across tickets that are partially used or completely fake.

  • Just say ‘no’ to cash-only deals. Authorized ticket retailers will have secure websites and accept a variety of payment options including credit cards and even PayPal.

  • There’s a good chance that any website that includes “Disney” or “Disney World”, or some variation, in the company name is a scam. As a result of copyright laws, authorized retailers selling discounted Disney World tickets are not legally allowed to incorporate the Disney brand into their website URLs or company names. For example, although BoardWalk Ticketing sells discounted Disney World tickets, ‘Disney World’ is not part of our company’s name.

  • Similar to the other sketchy selling situations above, anyone requesting that you meet them in a weird location to get your tickets – like in the Disney Springs parking garage or at the airport – is a big red flag. Likewise, some ticket booths in the International Drive area, at gas stations, in strip malls or shopping malls, or just outside the theme parks have been connected to bogus theme park tickets in the past. As a rule of thumb, any discount tickets to Disney World that require a face-to-face meeting, especially in a suspicious location, for delivery are most likely fake or invalid. Authorized ticket retailers will instead deliver your voucher, e-ticket, and/or confirmation code directly to either your email or a physical mailing address. And although it is possible that an authorized seller request that you visit their retail location to pick up your tickets, they’ll never demand that you meet them at a random location.

All in all, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So, if an offer seems fishy, go with your gut and find a different discount Disney ticket option.

Live Life in the Lightning Lane with Disney Genie+

Previously, skipping to the front of the line at Disney World would have been free with FastPass Plus. Unfortunately, with the recent launch of Disney Genie+, Individual Attraction Selections and the Lightning Lanes, you now need to pay for front-of-the-line access.

When buying Disney World discounted tickets through Boardwalk Ticketing, you will also have the option to upgrade to Disney Genie+ access for $15 per day ($16 per day including tax). This service gives you access to Disney World’s Lightning Lanes at more than 40 attractions across all four theme parks, allowing you to experience more throughout the day by jumping to the front of the crowd.

One thing to note is that when purchasing Genie+ in advance, you aren’t able to only pay for select days of your trip like you could if you waited to book the service until said day of your trip. Instead, you must pay for Genie+ for every day of your ticket, even if you aren’t planning on using the service at a specific park for whatever reason.

Affordable Disney Advice: Don’t want to pay for Disney Genie+ but still want to take advantage of shorter lines? The accompanying service, Disney Genie, makes recommendations on what to ride next based on your preferences and current and projected wait times, helping to save you time. It is also completely free to use.
