Disneyland Food Guide
EATING YOUR WAY THROUGH DISNEYLAND: A DISNEYLAND FOOD GUIDE
Disneyland foodies unite! Whether it’s the classics that keep you coming back for more, or the seasonal treat you’re on the hunt for before it’s gone, Disneyland food is a whole adventure on it’s own. Now let’s dig in!
MAINSTREET U.S.A.
Just a few steps into Disneyland and you can immediately smell that buttery popcorn popping and cinnamon churros baking! Heading down Main Street USA, the smell of vanilla wafts through the air. Before your day has even begun, you may already be ready for a treat thanks to these amazing smells (and the smellitizer pumping out these smells onto Main Street!) Main Street is full of delicious treats, sweets, and Corn Dogs.
Market House:
All your Starbucks favorites (drinks and food) plus a Mickey Sugar cookie and some snack options for kids: Cuties Mandarin, Applesauce, and Dannon yogurt.
Carnation Cafe: reservation recommended
Our favorite restaurant for breakfast! The Mickey Shaped Waffles come in adult size, and miniature size for kids to dip in syrup. It’s the perfect start to a Disney day, and the perfect Instagram moment! The Breakfast Skillet is a delicious option if a savory breakfast is more your thing. Lunch options include a home-cooking type of feeling: chili, baked potato soup, parmesan toasted patty melt, cheeseburgers and more. Be sure to order the hot chocolate on a chilly day! The menu is big enough for everyone to find something they’d like; we have enjoyed just about everything here! They are not open for dinner.
Gibson Ice Cream Parlor:
The perfect spot to grab some ice cream while waiting for a parade! The ice cream parlor has a variety of flavors by the scoop, sorbet, and ice cream treats. Some of our favorites include:
Sundaes
Ice Cream Float
Mickey’s Ice Cream Bar
Cookie Dough in a waffle cone
Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen:
All the treats and sweets can be found here, including the limited time seasonal treats. In my opinion, the cookies are dry and not worth trying with so many other good options. Some popular treats include:
Churro Toffee Square (one of my favorites!)
Caramel and Candied Apples
Crisped Rice Cereal Treats
Marshmallow Wands
You can also get blue raspberry, pink, mango, and cherry glaciers here. My kids have begged for these on a hot day!
Little Red Wagon:
There’s nothing like a Disneyland corn dog! The Little Red Wagon is a personal favorite for lunch, and a very popular spot. A meal includes a corn dog with mustard and ketchup for dipping, and a bag of chips (varies between Cheetos and Lays.) Don’t forget the Diet Coke!
Refreshment Corner:
Hot dogs, Chili Cheese Dogs, Mac and Cheese Dogs and more with a live piano player! Once Covid restrictions loosen up, you can often find Alice and the Mad Hatter joining the fun at this musical lunch spot as well. A can’t miss snack here is the Cream Cheese-filled Pretzel!
Plaza Inn: Reservation needed
The Plaza Inn is a sit-down restaurant, with character dining at Breakfast. It is another great spot for Mickey Waffles! For lunch and dinner, we recommend any of the Penne Pasta options (marinara, chicken pesto with Alfredo or bolognese.) They also offer a kid’s Penne Pasta.
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe:
Another favorite of mine! This is often our go-to lunch spot. Quick breakfast options include muffins, croissants, and a cinnamon roll. Our favorite for lunch and/or dinner are the Oven-roasted Turkey on Ciabatta and Toasted Cheese (a grilled cheese sandwich served with tomato soup.)
The Matterhorn Macaroon and Raspberry Rose Mickey Macaron will sell out quickly these days, so be sure to put a mobile order in earlier in the day!
ADVENTURELAND
Adventureland used to be super crowded, AKA a stroller’s nightmare. Since recent renovations, the land has now been opened up with more seating areas tucked underneath awnings. This gave the land some much needed breathing space, and made it a great spot to stop and eat!
Tiki Juice Bar
Dole Whips and Dole Floats are an Adventure Land must!
The Tropical Hideaway
One of Disneyland’s newest dining options is tucked away next to the Jungle Cruise. It is another spot to get a Dole Whip or Dole Float, including a new special Chile-Mango Whip which is worth trying at least once! Both the Bao and Mochi are good as well. This place has such a fun vibe at night!
Tropical Import
A quick stop for fruit, chips, and drinks.
Bengal Barbecue
Delicious chicken skewers; none of them will disappoint!
NEW ORLEANS SQUARE
Royal Street Veranda
A great quick spot for soup or gumbo in a Sourdough Bread Bowl.
Blue Bayou Restaurant: Reservation needed
The Blue Bayou is the amazing restaurant you might have seen while on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride! Order the Monte Cristo Sandwich for lunch or dinner in the nighttime ambiance while you watch the Pirates boats float by. This is the perfect restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.
Cafe Orleans: Reservation recommended
A finer dining option, but with a waitlist for walk-ups available. If you can’t get a reservation to the Blue Bayou, this is a great spot to get the Monte Cristo Sandwich.
French Market Restaurant:
Our favorite here is the Cajun-Style Chicken Caesar Salad. For kids, we recommend Pasta with Marinara Sauce or Chicken Breast with Rice. Pre-Covid, you could find Tiana and a live band performing on the stage outside while you eat! We hope to see that again soon!
Mint Julep Bar:
Located in the same dining area as the French Market Restaurant is this mint julep and beignet spot. We love to grab a bag of the Mickey shaped beignets and hop on the train; the train stop is just next door. Seasonal flavors of beignets are popular, so be sure to put in a mobile order in advance. Popular beignet flavors include pumpkin during Halloween season, and peppermint during Christmas time.
CRITTER COUNTRY
Hungry Bear Restaurant
Found between Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is this classic Disneyland restaurant. Named in honor of some singing animatronic bears playing banjos that once resided in the park, it is now the spot to get some delicious funnel cake! Seasonal flavors are available throughout the year, and always worth trying! Some good food includes the Honey-Spiced Chicken Sandwich and burgers. It sits along the water where kids can feed the ducks and watch the canoes go by.
Pooh Corner
We always make it a point to pop into this store/bakery after riding the The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! Along with its adorable decor, you can also get lots of sweets and treats found on Main Street as well. We recommend avoiding the cookies here as well, other than the big sugar cookies.
STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE
The newest land brings a whole lot of new food to enjoy!
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
Open for lunch and dinner, here you can get Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip, Roasted Chicken Salad, Batman Beef Pot Roast, along with some kids meals options.
Kat Saka’s Kettle
Flavorful and colorful popcorn.
Ronto Roasters
Wraps for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. This ambiance alone is worth checking out at this quick service stop.
Oga’s Cantina: Reservation needed
I haven’t had a chance to visit Oga’s Cantina, but it is high on my list to try! Be sure to make a reservation in advance, or make it a priority to join the walk-up list. The Cantina is full of drink concoctions during breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Milk Stand
Definitely make a pit stop here for green or blue milk! They are actually fruity drinks, and they’re worth trying if only for the experience!
FRONTIERLAND
The Golden Horseshoe
Our favorite dinner and a show! With chicken strips, salads, mozzarella sticks, ice cream and funnel cake, you really can’t go wrong here! Once Covid restrictions allow it again, a fun piano show with the citizens of Frontierland makes for the perfect entertainment during a long hot day when you need to enjoy some food and air conditioning! We can’t wait for this show to come back!
Stage Door Cafe
If you want to enjoy all the good food but take it to go, the Stage Door Cafe outside The Golden Horseshoe has all the same food without dining inside.
Rancho del Zoca Restaurante
The only Mexican food option found in Disneyland. We love the Trio of Street Tacos and Tostadas. My kids like the bean and cheese burrito on the kids menu, along with cinnamon crisps.
FANTASYLAND
Red Rose Taverne
This is the only spot to sit and eat in Fantasyland. It is a quick service restaurant where you can get Beast’s Breakfast Burger and Mickey shaped pancakes for breakfast, as well as burgers, french fries, salads, and flatbread for lunch and dinner. You’ll feel like you are in Gaston’s Taverne straight from Beauty and the Beast while dining inside!
TOMORROWLAND
Galactic Grill
A quick spot for burgers, Fried Chicken Sandwich, and a Chopped Salad during lunch and dinner. The kids size hamburger is the perfect size for little ones!
Alien Pizza Planet
Another favorite for my family! Large slices of pizza and our favorite Count Down Chicken Fusilli can be found here, tucked in the back of Tomorrowland next to Space Mountain. My kids love the Space-getti with Meatballs and breadsticks. This is a great spot to get food quickly in a cafeteria style setting with lots of seating options.
TOONTOWN
Toontown food is currently closed as a result of Covid restrictions. I don’t find that I am missing the food options here too much. We usually have only eaten here out of convenience, when we’re already down there and a child or two is having a hunger meltdown!
Daisy’s Diner
Individual sized pizzas that aren’t too bad!
Pluto’s Dog House
A quick stop for, you guessed it, hot dogs!
CARTS
Popcorn and churro carts can be found in the majority of lands at Disneyland. There are also snack, drink, fruit, and ice cream stands throughout the park as well, so there is never a shortage of snack options!
FOOD TIPS:
Covid has changed many things at Disneyland, one of them being food accessibility and fewer cast members. While it has improved since Disneyland reopened, it is still common for popular treats to sell out later in the day. If you have your heart set on the Matterhorn Macaroon and Raspberry Rose Mickey Macaron, seasonal beignets, or other seasonal treats, be sure to plan accordingly and place a mobile food order early on in the day!
The lines for food can be long and slow, so using the app to put in a mobile food order in the Disneyland app is highly recommended! Having a mobile food order saves so much time, but does require thinking about an hour or two ahead of your regular food schedule in order to reserve the pick up times you want. When noon rolls around and you’re ready for lunch and looking at all the long food lines, the next available pick up window for a restaurant may not be until 1:00 or later. This isn’t too big of an issue if you don’t have kids with you, but parents know that when kids are hungry another hour of waiting won’t go over well! I recommend putting in a lunch order in the late morning, and a dinner order in the late afternoon. Mobile orders can always be canceled if you change your mind, even up to the last minute!
To make a mobile food order, open the Disneyland app and click the 3 lines in the bottom right corner. Select Mobile Food Orders, then Create New Order. Select the arrival window at the dining spot you’re interested in. There is no limit to how many mobile food orders you can have throughout the day! Once your order is ready, an alert will pop up on your phone. Be sure to let them know you’re on your way and then wait for the next pop up that says your order is ready for pick up!
When the lines are long and the park is crowded, at least you know there’s always the food to keep you entertained and happy! Let us know your favorite meal or treat at Disneyland!
